Author: thepreecher84040 we need nature part one
David Large November 2004 Author's note: This essay is a very condensed version of a lot of thinking. Its virtues are ours; its vices are all my own. Introduction: We Need Nature Human beings are natural beings. They are part of the natural environment in which they live. It does not make sense to consider anything about human beings and their activities that does not account for this. Nor does it make sense to consider human beings as either separate from or independent of nature. If we are to succeed and thrive, we must both recognise and understand this ecological state of affairs. This essay introduces an ecological notion of the relationship between human beings and nature and explains how this relationship is key to our sciences and political systems. It begins by explaining that we are part of the natural world and that the natural world is part of us. Our ecological being cannot be ignored. Any attempt to analyse our world and our activities other than in terms of our ecological existence is bound to be in error and lead to mistakes. This shows itself in every area of human endeavour be it economics, politics, social or laboratory science. The essay argues that nature and humanity belong together and illustrates how the uneliminable presence of nature in human activity impacts on all areas of human occupation and existence. It proposes that an ecological approach to humanity be adopted as a cross-disciplinary starting point. It indicates how this approach may yield new solutions to traditionally intractable economic, political and social problems. It's Only Natural We need nature because we are part of the natural world and the natural world is part of us. We cannot live in a separate artificial or virtual reality. If we have learned anything then it's that when we try to live above or beyond nature then it's not that we cease to be who we are, but that we cease to be full stop. Only when we understand the rich and meaningful relationship we have with nature will we be able to take our place in the world as a mature and responsible species with the rights and responsibilities that brings. We can achieve this understanding by developing the notion of ecology and exploring our relationship with nature. To take an ecological approach is to include nature in our account of human beings and all of their activities. It is a scientifically informed approach with logical foundations that does not indulge in utopianism. It is not a souped-up liberal theory but considers politics in terms of communities of ecological individuals. In order to explore these views, let us briefly look at the main aspects of the ecological approach, then move on to discuss some of the relationships between them and the physical and social sciences, and end by looking at the strategic policy implications of adopting ecological considerations.

Online shopping is becoming more popular, more convenient, and more attractive every day to the average consumer. Each year billions and billions MORE are spent online than the prior year and that trend is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. With Aisle 19 you can position yourself now to profit from that huge trend in our economy. Online shopping is the process consumers go through to purchase products or services over the Internet. An online shop, eshop, e-store, internet shop, webshop, webstore, online store, or virtual store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or in a shopping mall. The metaphor of an online catalog is also used, by analogy with mail order catalogs. All types of stores have retail web sites, including those that do and do not also have physical storefronts and paper catalogs. Online shopping is a type of electronic commerce used for business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions. The term "Webshop" also refers to a place of business where web development, web hosting and other types of web related activities take place (Web refers to the World Wide Web and "shop" has a colloquial meaning used to describe the place where one's occupation is carried out). Online Shopping Trends One third of people that shop online use a search engine to find what they are looking for and about one fourth of people find websites by word of mouth. Word of mouth has increased as a leading way that people find websites to shop from. When an online shopper has a good first experience with a certain website sixty percent of the time they will return to that website to buy more. Books are one of the things bought most online, however clothes, shoes and accessories are all very popular things to buy online. Cosmetics, nutrition products and groceries are increasingly being purchased online.[5]. About one fourth of travelers are buying their plane tickets online because it is a quick and easy way to compare airline travel and make a purchase. Online shopping provides more freedom and control than shopping in a store. According to sociological perspective online shopping is arguably the most predictable way to shop. One knows exactly what website to go to, how much the product will cost, and how long it will take for the product to reach them. Online shopping has become extremely routine and predictable, which is one of it's great appeals to the consumer. Online Shopping Convenience Online stores are usually available 24 hours a day, and many consumers have Internet access both at work and at home. A visit to a conventional retail store requires travel and must take place during business hours. Searching or browsing an online catalog can be faster than browsing the aisles of a physical store. Consumers with dial-up Internet connections rather than broadband have much longer load times for content-rich web sites and have a considerably slower online shopping experience. Some consumers prefer interacting with people rather than computers (and vice versa), sometimes because they find computers hard to use. Not all online retailers have succeeded in making their sites easy to use or reliable. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_shopping

Author: TourFactory THE REAL REASON VMK CLOSED (NOT EVER BEFORE HEARD, RECENT!)
Disney recently shut down one of everyone's favorite childhood memories. "Disney recently shut down many of it's stores [The Disney Store]. The store is a favorite memory of all, big and small. We talked to a representative of The Walt Disney Company. The representative told us "The Disney Store in many areas brought little if any profit. This resulted in closing The Disney Store in those areas." This sounds familiar to when we reported the closing of Disney's online game, Virtual Magic Kingdom. This economy must be bad if companies as large as Disney are in hot water. What will Disney close next, Club Penguin?" - QUOTE NEWSPAPER IN CALIFORNIA It's true, even Disney is in trouble. This even betters the idea that Disney closed due to the lack of money and the nonexistant profit VMK made. Looks like we've found the answer to why VMK closed. Thanks for watching! P.S. Is it just me or do you hear the ring of Main Street in your ears and the click of your keyboard talking to your friends? Congragulations guys, we officially know why VMK closed.
Author: attackthebonbons Public Affairs with Jeff Berkowitz - Steve Greenberg
A virtual conversation on August 10, 2008, with IL 8th CD Republican Nominee Steve Greenberg and Democrat Incumbent Melissa Bean Jeff Berkowitz, show host and executive legal recruiter, debates and discusses with Steve Greenberg, 8th Cong. Dist. Republican Nominee, domestic, foreign and cultural public policy issues. Greenberg's background is in working in sales and operations in his family's business, as well as more recently doing "turn-around work," relating to underperforming distribution businesses. He also played minor league professional hockey. Greenberg lives with his wife and children in Long Grove, IL. Like 4th year 8th CD incumbent Congresswoman Bean (D-Barrington), Greenberg lives just outside the 8th CD boundaries in the 10th CD. Topics discussed include expansion of off-shore drilling, drilling in ANWR and nuclear power and the potential impact of such expansion on energy prices. Greenberg's views are contrasted with Cong. Bean, who has declined to appear on the show since her last appearance in January, 2006. Also discussed is Bean's tie-breaking vote to adjourn the House before it dealt with high gas prices and related energy issues, the impact on national security of energy public policy decisions and what do Greenberg and Bean think of solar, wind, shale, clean coal and plug in cars. Additional topics discuss include Bean's and Greenberg's contrasting views on corporate and individual taxes and tax cuts, whether Bean is an "Obama mama," Greenberg and Bean's contrasting views on bail-outs of irresponsible big lenders like Countrywide, is the economy in recession, are people "hurting," and did the House Republicans "lose their way" and are they "found." Additional topics include whether it was a mistake to go into Iraq, the Administration's decision to conduct a Surge in Iraq, should Obama be President, should the U. S. consider taking military action to take out Iran's nuclear capability, should the U. S. assist the Republic of Georgia militarily, the contrasting views of Greenberg and Bean on free trade and on the removal of a union member's right to a secret ballot, and has Bean been on both sides of the Canadian National railroad issue. Additional topics include school choice, charter schools and other aspects of education reform; same sex marriage and civil unions; background checks to own guns, the 2nd Amendment and contrasting views of Greenberg and Bean on reviving the Assault Weapon ban.
